SUMMARY:International Film Series: The Hoodlum Soldier
DESCRIPTION: The Hoodlum Soldier\n\nSun November 20\n7:00 only\nRare\, not-on-DVD films from Yasuzo Masumura \n\nThe Hoodlum Soldier features a great example of Masumura's ability to focus on something very specific -- here the life of infantry and artillery men stationed in the barracks of Manchuria -- to illustrate how individuality is no match for the larger hierarchical structure of Japanese society. IFS (((underground))) screens films in partnership with the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in the Visual Arts Complex basement auditorium on Thursdays at 7:30pm only.
