Terry Gilliam's masterpiece is the ultimate dystopia-now film because it is commonly misconstrued as a film about the future when, in fact, what it really did was condense the century in which it was created (the 20th century) into an alternate universe. Its message about terrorism, bureaucracy, and torture are, unfortunately, more relevant than ever.
