When Australian director, Trevor Graham, got wind of a 2008 dispute about the origin of hummus in the Middle East, he felt compelled to investigate. This humorous documentary follows Graham as he interviews Israeli, Lebanese, and Palestinian individuals, all of whom claim hummus as their own. These individuals range from intellectuals, street vendors, and taxi drivers to professional chefs and politicians. While their politics are in conflict in ways that reflect larger regional struggles, they all share a passion for hummus.

MAKE HUMMUS NOT WAR includes not only candid interviews but also personal memorabilia and Monty Python-esque animated sequences. While checking out competing hummus claims, Graham also chows down to try to find out who makes the best hummus.
