2009 Oscar-Nominated Shorts: Live Action
This year's five Oscar-nominated live-action shorts are:
  • Auf Der Strecke (On the Line) - directed by Reto Caffi - Switzerland, 30 min. A bookstore employee who is secretly in love with a coworker sees a potential rival attacked on the train.
  • New Boy - directed by Steph Green and Tamara Anghie - Ireland, 11 min. Adapted from a Roddy Doyle short story about a nine-year-old African boy on his first day of school in Ireland.
  • Toyland (Spielzeugland) - directed by Jochen Freydank - Germany, 14 min. In 1942, a German boy is convinced his Jewish neighbors are going to Toyland.
  • The Pig (Grisen) - directed by Tivi Magnusson and Dorte Høgh - Denmark, 22 min. A man about to have surgery is comforted by a painting of a pig.
  • Manon on the Asphalt - directed by Elizabeth Marre and Olivier Pont - France, 15 min. A young woman hit by a bicycle reflects on her life.

Estimated total running time - 94 min.
